Blue Mountain has long been a popular spot for dining and live music. Matt Danford opened the place nine years ago. He added the brewpub element to “keep it fresh,” he said. “We are always looking for things to bring customers in.”
That historic building at 55. N. Main St. dates to the 1820s and in recent years has been a hardware store, a small TV station, and was occupied by a string of restaurants until Danford opened Blue Mountain.
Brewing the beers are Mike Vanhoose and Joey Cagle. The two have been home brewing for a decade and were eager to take that up a level.
The brewery, locagted in a small side building and not open for tours, has two 80 gallon fermenters. Vanhoose and Cagle are running the equipment strong, with beers divided between American and Belgian styles.
